Opening of the DSAC Publishing Hub 2025/26 call
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), in collaboration with the Academic and Non-Fiction Authors' Association of South Africa (ANFASA), is thrilled to announce the opening of the DSAC Publishing Hub 2025/26 call for manuscripts, selection panel, and publishers.
This industry stimulus initiative was first launched in July 2023 to support South African authors and revitalise the local publishing industry. It aims to promote the creation of new literature that tells our stories—written by South Africans, for South Africans—while also preserving our diverse cultural heritage through edutainment.
To date, the DSAC Publishing Hub has successfully produced 57 works, including 43 physical books, 8 audiobooks, and 6 books converted to braille. Notably, four publications were written in indigenous Khoi and San languages—Khwedam, !Xunthali, and Nama—highlighting the initiative’s commitment to linguistic and cultural preservation.
As South Africa recently marked 30 years of democracy, this is a fitting time to reflect on our nation's rich history, cultural diversity, and the ongoing journey toward freedom and equality. Literature remains a powerful medium through which we can celebrate this milestone and shape narratives that capture the true spirit of our nation.
If you're interested in being part of the DSAC Publishing Hub—as an author, publisher, or selection panel member—please complete the application form below for consideration.
